Two energy labels on your dryer? Here's how that works.
New energy label for dryers: what you need to know
From 1 July 2025, the European Union is introducing a new energy label for dryers. Until then there is a transition period, during which it is possible that you will receive an appliance with two labels: the current one and the new one. Don't worry, that is exactly as intended.
At Homie we think it is important that you know where you stand. That is why we explain below what is changing, and why.

Why is there a new label?
Over recent years dryers have become increasingly energy-efficient. Many models now fall into the highest class, such as A+++ or even A+++-20%. That seems clear, but in practice it makes comparing difficult: everything seems equally efficient.
To make clear distinctions possible again, the label has been renewed. The new energy label:
- Uses a clear scale from A to G (without plus signs),
- Applies stricter and fairer testing methods,
- And makes it easier to identify truly energy-efficient appliances.

What does this mean for you?
During the transition period you may receive a dryer with two energy labels. That may look confusing, but it simply means that:
- The old scale (A+++) is still visible,
- And the appliance has already been tested according to the new method.
Important: the energy consumption of the appliance does not change, only the way it is displayed.
For example: A dryer with energy label A+++ on the old label may have class C on the new label. That looks less efficient, but it is not — the test is simply stricter.

What is new about the label?
In addition to the updated scale, you will see on the new energy label:
- A QR code linking to the official EU database with product specifications,
- New pictograms, such as the duration of the standard drying programme and the noise level.
In summary
You may temporarily find two labels on your dryer
The new scale runs from A to G
The energy consumption of your appliance stays the same
The new label makes comparing fairer and more transparent
Homie
At Homie we always choose energy-efficient models, whether the label says A+++ or B. That way you can be sure you are making the right choice, now and in the future.
